About Marqueta: She has worked as a coordinator and youth advocate for several organizations, including NAACP, Children’s Defense Fund (Freedom Schools), Urban League and Rutledge Youth Foundation. The past 5 years she has worked with community organizations in East St. Louis to
initiate and organize several outreach events. Marqueta is passionate about serving her community and sharing her faith. Her passion has led her to open her home and provide personal mentorship and life skills training for youth in the community. She is currently a facilitator for the Girls Circle Program at the YWCA of the Metro East. Using relational theory and curriculum, she helps teenage girls realize their full potential and develop a sense of self-worth.
As Founder and Executive Director of Be A Bridge NFP, Marqueta understands
the need for community organizations that directly serve youth of color. It is her passion and experiences that have driven her to develop the program Youth Like You. This program offers a safe space for youth to feel empowered, build positive
racial identity, learn leadership and life skills and receive mentorship.
As a mom and a devoted youth advocate, she vows to work hard to make a difference in the lives of her children and those around her.
