    Speaker's Bio:

Shelly Snow Pordea is author of the Tracing Time Trilogya story about women who find their way in the world while seeking to save themselves and those they love. A time travel book of romance and family, this trilogy has a timely message for a planet faced with irreversible damage, exploring the potential of learning from the past in order to save our future.

Shelly’s first children's book, The Hug Who Had No Arms, debuted on Amazon as a #1 bestseller in several categories. Inspired by the pandemic, a time when the world seemed to stop hugging, she took to her love of drawing and storytelling to create a book for families to cope with the practice of social distancing as well as learn to celebrate our unique differences and ways we can show love through them. Having a bilingual family herself, Shelly's passion to have multilingual versions of this book has turned into a hug-fest series with translations currently in Romanian, Persian, and Spanish.

She is passionate about the creative journey and has a Creative Mindfulness online course and journal for everyday practice.

Shelly is a cult survivor using her voice through the power of storytelling in order to elicit change. A victim of childhood sexual abuse, she reached out to church leaders as a teenager, only to be “handled” in a culture of shame and misogyny. As a collaborator with the #igotout movement, she advocates for survivors of spiritual, sexual, and institutional abuse and is writing a memoir and screenplay about her experiences.

Current projects include the Tracing Time Trilogy in production development for movie adaptation. Her upcoming novel is themed on witnessing the treatment of women in society. Though we often claim the patriarchy is a thing of the past, when a woman's character is in question, where does she turn? Shelly draws from her experiences both in a cult setting and mainstream megachurch system to create the world and story of The Cheating Wife. As a screenwriter, a fictional adaptation for a series drama of Shelly's personal story is currently in production collaboration with her brother and actor, Jon Snow.
